AMBUSH

Also, big kitty Judy came and played with Scrappy. That is Scrappy’s favorite thing ever.

Nervous as…

Apparently no one has told Scrappy that rocking chairs are supposed to make cats nervous. This is one of his favorite spots. Possibly it feels well-defended.

Last night he managed to approach calmly enough that Judy let him settle so close that they were almost touching. Which is great news. Both of them would be happier if they had a buddy to snuggle with, I believe.

Crochet basket made from reclaimed materials

I’ve been slowly sorting and organizing some key areas, like my sewing/art/craft supplies and my office area.  Somehow I tend to hoard containers, but never have the right size and shape of container for the things I actually want to store.

So, I came across this instructions for making a basket by crocheting around rope, and thought it would be worth giving it a try:

I altered the instructions slightly in that I used t-shirt yarn and crocheted around some old fabric-covered cord I had lying around.  Other than that, I followed the instructions pretty much exactly.

Here, you can see a corner of the work in progress, while Scrappy and I play with The Dot:

Then end result was not bad.  A little lumpy, but seems sturdy and not at all floppy:

I think the approach has potential, though I may have to practice a bit to end up with a basket I’m fully happy with aesthetically!

The world must be tasted

These last few days, everything must be chewed on. Is it possible he is teething? Side note: despite all my good intentions to gently but firmly dissuade him from growing up as the kind of cat who goes psycho and attacks people, he is currently being kind of a terror as far as attacking our hands. And my legs – he loves to tackle my calves as I am standing by the sink preparing his food. I am sure it is just excitement about the upcoming meal, but as he gets to be a bigger cat this could be a problem behavior!

Cat TV is interesting if a little scary. It’s not clear that he understands that there is a window blocking the view, and he has been trying to fit himself through the slats to get to what he sees on the other side. Which is pretty darn funny…

Meanwhile, Judy continues to be droopy. The vet said to call her if we didn’t see improvement by today, so I guess that’s where we are at on this one.

Happy New Year

Scrappy would like to wish all y’all a very happy new year. Except this mousie. He intends to kill this mousie.

Gracie would like everyone to know that she is (for once in her life) not causing anyone any concerns.

Judy would like her tummy to stop hurting, and we are all very eager for that goal. We are hoping the antibiotic will do the trick; meanwhile we are trying to give her lots of love and attention.
